Day 1

Arrive Delhi

Diversity, culture & incredibility

Meet and greet on your arrival in Delhi. You will be received by an airport staff at the aerobridge. He will then assist you through the immigration and baggage. You will then be greeted by our company representative, as you walk out of the airport. He will accompany you to the car and transfer to your hotel close to the airport.
Rest of the day at leisure at the hotel.

Day 2

Delhi / Kathgodam / Corbett

To the finest wildlife and birding region

Transfer to railway station in time to board Shatabdi train to Kathgodam
Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to Corbett (1.5 hrs)
Jim Corbett National Park
It is the oldest national park in India and was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. It is located in Nainital and Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand and was named after Jim Corbett, a well known hunter and naturalist. It houses around 110 tree species, 50 species of mammals, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species.
Post lunch and settling in, jungle hike around the property in the Sal forest for an evening of birding.

Day 3 - 4

Corbett / Dhikala

To the core

Early morning, we depart to the Dhikala range of the national park with packed breakfast Dhikala is one of the main tourist centres for Corbett therefore it has many restrictions- walking is prohibited in this zone except in designated areas.
These two days will be spent primarily in the Dhikala range of the Corbett Tiger Reserve. The varied habitats such as grasslands, foothills and riverine forests make for an interesting diversity in wildlife. Apart from driving around in open jeeps there are also great observation points and watchtowers where one can spend some time on the lookout or simply admiring the scenery. Each safari will be a 4 hour drive, one in the morning with a packed breakfast and one post lunch in the afternoon; on both days.

Day 5

Dhikala / Corbett

Nurtured by Nature

Early morning, we head out for a safari with packed breakfast, to any part of the range that you particularly enjoyed. We will be back at the rest-house for lunch, post which, we take one last safari on our way out of Dhikala, back to the homestay. Once at the homestay, we have the evening at our leisure with time to share stories and experiences from our time at Dhikala.

Day 6

Corbett / Nainital

Himalayan calling

Post breakfast, drive to Nainital. This will be a 3 hour drive.
Nainital
Nainital district in Kumaon consists of numerous lakes ensconced by mountains and forested hill slopes. These lakes form a part of an important freshwater biome. The lakes of Sattal and Bhimtal, surrounded by moist oak, Deodar and Cypress, are a paradise for avian life. Situated at an average elevation of around 1300 mts, this region hosts a lot of local and altitudinal migrants moving during the season. Mountain streams with lot of moist fern patches make for some interesting species. Mountain Bulbul, Rufous-chinned Laughing thrush, Striated Laughing thrush, Golden Bush Robin, Small and Rufous-bellied Niltavas, Chestnut-headed and grey-bellied Tesias, Spotted Forktail, Nepal Wren Babbler, Himalayan Woodpecker and Khalij Pheasant are some of the birds to be seen here.

Day 7

Nainital / Pangot / Sattal / Nainital

Home to best Himalayan species

Home to best Himalayan species We bird around Pangot and Sattal areas. The excursions would be by car and a great many walks. We would normally depart after an early breakfast with a packed lunch and return to the estate in the evening.
Pangot and surrounding area
Pangot and around are predominately montane forests dominated by Pine with Oak, Rhododendron and Ringal. Snow-capped peaks loom in the distance and forest patches interspersed with open valleys and grassy slopes make for some different species. Black-headed and Eurasian Jays, Lammergier, Himalayan Griffon, Aquila Eagles, Green-backed Tit, Spot-winged Tit, Hill Partridge, Red-billed Blue Magpies, Long-tailed Minivets, Slaty-headed Parakeets, Cheer Pheasant, Koklass, Rufous-bellied Woodpeckers and Mistle Thrush are some of the birds we expect to see.

Day 8

Nainital / Chafi / Kainchi / Nainital

Continue exploration

Depart after an early breakfast with a packed lunch.Today we explore Chafi and Kainchi areas. The excursions would be by car and a great many walks.
Species to look out for are Red- billed Blue Magpies, Black-headed & Eurasian Jays, Bronzed Drongo, Mountain Bulbul, Blue-winged & Bar Throated Siva, Pink-browed Rosefinch, Spot-winged Grosbeaks, Blue-fronted Redstart, Scarlet Finch, Green Backed Tit, Yellow-Browed Tit, Cheer Phesant, KoklasPhesant, Great Barbet, Grey-Backed Shrike, Eurasian Jay, Mistle Thrush, Orange- Flanked & Golden Bush Robin, White-Browed and Green Shrike- babbler,Rusty-Checked Scimitar Babbler, Chestnut Thrush, Rufous-Bellied Niltava, Mrs Gould's Sunbird, Lammergier, Himalayan Griffon, Collared Owlet, Chestnut-eared Bunting, Small Niltava and Slaty-Blue Flycatcher.

Day 9

Nainital / Kathgodam / Delhi Departure

End of birding journey

We can put in one final session of an early morning birding around the estate. Post breakfast, we will check out and drive to Kathgodham railway station. This will be a 1.5 hour drive. We will have lunch at a restaurant in Kathgodam and then board our train to Delhi (Shatabdi Express).
Dinner will be provided on the train.
Meeting and assistance on arrival at railway station and transfer to a hotel close to the international terminal. Day use room will be booked and available to you until your departure later in the evening / night. Later transfer to the international airport to board flight for onward destination

Accommodation will be in comfortable & aesthetically designed mud cottages on a two person sharing basis. Food will be wholesome and a mix of local and continental cuisine.

Dhikala
Dhikala Forest Lodge

Is the largest tourist rest house complex within Corbett Tiger Reserve. It stands atop the left bank of Ramganga River, overlooking the expansive grasslands called ‘chaurs’. Accommodation varies from simple dormitory bunk beds, to more comfortable rooms, to the old heritage building in middle of the complex called the “Old FRH”. Meals at Dhikala are at the restaurant in the complex which serves wholesome vegetarian food.

The Abbotsford Estate

Is a 145 year old, family estate turned into an exquisite heritage homestead. The suites are designed in the old architectural fashion full of natural light, an essential in a boutique hill home. Antique and contemporary furniture compliments the contrasting textured walls of the rooms. Seasoned pinewood covers the floors, and the rooms have a fabulous view of the peaks and the sounds of chirping birds and rustling trees. All rooms are individually heated and equipped with cable TV. Bathrooms are decorated with colourful Vietri tiles.
